Medan Area University (UMA) once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing graduate competitiveness globally through a workshop, campus hiring, and the signing of an MoU with PT Basic International Sumatera. The event took place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the H. Siti Mariani Convention Hall, 3rd Floor of the Library Building, UMA Campus 1.

With the theme “Chinese Work Culture and Mandarin as a Provision for Global Competence”, this workshop is a golden opportunity for UMA students and alumni to broaden their insights into international work culture and improve their foreign language skills, which are now the main capital in the competitive world of work.

PT Basic International Sumatera is a company engaged in the manufacturing and export of various industrial products, particularly those oriented towards Asian and international markets. With a strong network in East Asia, particularly China, PT Basic International Sumatera plays an active role in bridging global industrial needs with competent local talent.

This activity is specifically designed for alumni and current students of Medan Area University (2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019) who wish to expand their careers internationally. In addition to the workshop, Campus Hiring also provides participants with hands-on opportunities to be recruited into this multinational company.

Through this activity, it is hoped that participants will not only understand the professional work culture of experienced practitioners, but also be able to equip themselves with Mandarin language skills that are increasingly needed in today’s global world.

The signing of the MoU between Medan Area University and PT Basic International Sumatera marks a new milestone in strengthening industry-academic relations, as well as opening wider opportunities for collaboration and future workforce absorption.
