Lecturers at Medan Area University (UMA) held community service activities in Medan on Tuesday (28/1/2025).

This activity aims to improve financial literacy and is delivered by lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business, consisting of lecturers majoring in accounting and management. The theme of the event is “Financial Literacy Socialization: Investing Now for Financial Independence in the Future.”

According to Nindya, a management lecturer at UMA, this activity aims to provide workers with an understanding of the importance of investing so that the value of their money is not eroded by inflation.

In addition to explaining the benefits of investing, the lecturers also demonstrated the use of investment apps, which are now increasingly accessible. However, they reminded the public to understand the risks of investing and always ensure the platform they use is officially registered. “While many investment apps offer convenience, it’s important to remain cautious and avoid investing in platforms whose legality is unclear,” they said.

On this occasion, the lecturers also issued a warning regarding the rampant investment fraud that is currently developing in Indonesia.
