Medan Area University (UMA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting sustainable development in the region by collaborating with the Deli Serdang Regency Government. This collaboration began with an official visit by UMA to the Deli Serdang Regency Government office on Wednesday (April 10).
The UMA delegation led by the Head of the Bureau of Information, Promotion, and Cooperation (BIPK), Mr. Dian Fajar Prayoga, S.Kom, was received directly by Assistant II for Economics and Development, Mr. Khoirum Rizal, ST, MAP

During the meeting, UMA affirmed its readiness and potential to support regional development, particularly through collaborative research that supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UMA, through its various Research and Innovation Centers, is ready to contribute to addressing development challenges in Deli Serdang Regency.
“This is part of the BIPK 2025 agenda in the SDGs & Green Campus Initiative program, which reflects UMA’s commitment to continue encouraging collaboration between academics and the government,” said Dian Fajar Prayoga.
Mr. Khoirum Rizal welcomed this collaboration and emphasized the importance of innovation from universities in driving sustainable growth in the region. He hopes this partnership will create synergy between UMA’s research strengths and local development needs.

As a follow-up, both parties agreed to immediately arrange a follow-up meeting between the Regent of Deli Serdang and the Chancellor of UMA, which is expected to strengthen the direction of cooperation and accelerate the implementation of innovative solutions in regional development policies.
With this step, UMA further strengthens its role as a higher education institution that actively contributes to sustainable development through collaborative research and strategic partnerships.
