The Rector of Universitas Medan Area, Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan M.Eng, M.Sc, together with the Universitas Medan Area Alumni Forum (FORSA UMA), conducted a tree planting activity at the UMA Campus Forest Park on Jalan Medan Estate on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

The Rector stated that planting trees serves to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby helping to mitigate global warming. The Rector also mentioned that UMA is the only private university in North Sumatra with a sustainable campus forest that is filled with various types of trees. In fact, UMA is ranked in the GreenMetric.

The Rector expressed appreciation for FORSA UMA’s concern for the environment. He emphasized that a green forest is a valuable legacy for future generations. Therefore, UMA is always ready to support all activities related to environmental conservation. The Rector hopes that this initiative will continue regularly to keep our planet protected and green.

Meanwhile, Batara Surya Yusuf, representing FORSA UMA, stated that this tree planting activity is a way to commemorate Indonesia’s Tree Planting Day. Additionally, the synergy built among the government, universities, and the community is very effective in efforts to reduce air pollution. With such collaboration, we believe that efforts to control air pollution worldwide can be successfully managed through greening activities.
