Mangrove planting is a practical action that is easy to carry out but has a significant impact on preserving and restoring mangrove ecosystems. This effort provides substantial benefits in maintaining the sustainability of coastal ecosystems and helps mitigate the negative effects of climate change and other environmental damage.

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, the Green Campus Center, in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universitas Medan Area, planted 1,000 mangrove seedlings in Ragemuk Village, Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang Regency. A total of 40 lecturers, students, and the Green Campus Center team participated in this mangrove planting event.

This activity reflects Universitas Medan Area’s social responsibility towards the environment. Through this effort, we aim to preserve the coastal ecosystem and contribute positively to the surrounding community.

The local community expressed their gratitude to Universitas Medan Area for its concern about coastal erosion in Pantai Labu, Deli Serdang. Pantai Labu is one of the coastal areas seriously threatened by erosion.

This initiative is expected to inspire more people to care about and actively engage in environmental preservation efforts, especially along the coastlines.
