The Agribusiness Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Medan Area (UMA), conducted a field study at the Belawan Agricultural Quarantine Center (BARANTIN) on July 10, 2024. This activity aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in agricultural quarantine processes and field management.

Head of the Agribusiness Study Program, Mrs. Marizha Nurcahyani, S.ST., M.Sc, expressed her gratitude to BARANTIN Belawan for their warm welcome and the valuable learning opportunity. “We are very grateful to the Belawan Agricultural Quarantine Center for welcoming us. This is a valuable opportunity for our students to observe and directly understand quarantine processes and agricultural management,” said Mrs. Marizha. She also hopes for an increasingly close and sustainable relationship between the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Medan Area and BARANTIN Belawan so that similar activities can continue to be organized, supporting the development of students’ knowledge and skills.

Ms. Susanna Bangun, a staff member at BARANTIN Belawan, also expressed her appreciation to the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Medan Area for choosing BARANTIN Belawan as the location for their field study. “Thank you to the Agribusiness Study Program at Universitas Medan Area’s Faculty of Agriculture for choosing BARANTIN Belawan as a learning site for students. I hope this experience provides them with useful practical insights to support their career development in agribusiness,” said Ms. Susanna.

During the activity, students were invited to visit various facilities at BARANTIN Belawan, including the quarantine laboratory, an oil transport vessel, and other learning areas. They also received direct explanations from experts on quarantine procedures, pest control, and modern agricultural management techniques.

This activity is expected not only to enrich students’ theoretical knowledge but also to provide essential practical experience for careers in the agribusiness sector. The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Medan Area is committed to continuing partnerships with various organizations and institutions to enhance the quality of education and learning for its students.
