Medan Area University (UMA) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan World Business (JWB) to strengthen international cooperation in education and research. The signing ceremony took place in the H. Agus Salim Siregar Conference Room, 1st Floor, Rector’s Office Building, at 11:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time on February 25, 2025.

This event was attended directly by the Rector of Medan Area University,  Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng., M.Sc. , as well as a number of important officials from UMA, including  the Head of the Information, Promotion, and Partnership Bureau, Dr. Siti Alhamra Salqaura, SE, M.Sc. ,  Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Eng. Supriatno, ST, MT ,  Head of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Dr. Iswandi, ST, MT , and  Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, Nukhe Andri Silviana, ST, MT

Meanwhile, representatives from Japan World Business who attended this event were  Mr. Muhammad Usman, Mr. Eka Syahputra Siregar, and Ms. Chairu Nisaa Nasution . In addition, several other representatives, such as  Mr. Yunoki Kaito, Oky Effendi Siregar, and Mr. Kenji Kondo , also joined virtually via the Zoom Meeting platform.

In his remarks, UMA Rector,  Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng., M.Sc. , stated that this collaboration is a strategic step in improving the quality of academics and research at UMA. “We hope this MoU can be a gateway for UMA students and lecturers to gain international experience, both in academics, research, and industrial collaboration,” he said.

JWB representative,  Mr. Muhammad Usman , also welcomed the collaboration and hoped it would create numerous opportunities for UMA students, particularly in engineering and industry. “We want to bridge the enormous potential of Indonesian students with job opportunities and skills development in Japan,” he said.

The signing of this MoU marks the commitment of both parties to collaborate on various programs, including student exchanges, joint research, industrial training, and academic and professional capacity building for UMA students and faculty.

With this collaboration, Medan Area University continues to demonstrate its commitment to expanding its international network and increasing academic competitiveness at the global level.
